At Cordia UK, we are striving to become a driving force in the regeneration of Birmingham and the West Midlands, with a range of exciting projects in the pipeline.
Built on creativity, innovation and a passion for change, our team is at the core of all our projects, with a shared ambition to transform local places for the better.
Our team wouldn’t be what it is today without our People & Operations Director, Julie Evans. Julie joined the team in April 2021 as HR Manager and was quickly promoted to her current position in July 2022. Her previous experience was gained in a variety of HR roles for organisations including BAM Construct UK, Arup and Highways England.
Julie holds a BSc in Psychology from Swansea University, and a MSc in Occupational Psychology from the University of Sheffield. In 2019, she achieved her CIPD in Human Resource management from Solihull College.
Here’s what Julie had to say about working for Cordia UK…
Why did you join Cordia UK?
Working for small-to-medium sized organisations really appeals to me due to the variety of tasks within my role, and then understanding the potential growth opportunity for Cordia UK was a large factor in deciding to join this organisation. Since joining, the size of the organisation has doubled, and I cannot wait to continue on this trajectory.
What does your role involve?
I am responsible for all aspects of the employee’s journey during their time with the organisation. Specifically focusing on policies and procedures, recruitment, training, performance, compensation, benefits and health and safety. The aim with any People and Operations Director is to create and maintain a positive and productive work environment that fosters innovation and growth, and this is what I always aim to do.
What do you most love about what you do?
I genuinely love seeing our property ideas being brought to life by my colleagues, through hard work and determination.
Tell us a surprising or fun fact about you.
My Harry Potter knowledge is on a different level…
What are you most looking forward to at Cordia UK?
Seeing the construction of the bricks, mortar, and interiors of our build-to-rent developments. In particular, I am most excited about seeing our shared living scheme, Bradford Works, come to life, as it is a brand-new concept for Birmingham, along with continued development of the Jewellery Quarter.
